Progress both in biology and in the field of bioinformatics have opened the door to a new mentality in which develops a comprehensive view of biological processes. This concept of globalization is reflected in the development of what has been called "The omics era". The suffix "-oma" is Latin origin and means "whole". It is therefore that the addition of the suffix a different biology studies covers massive new approaches which is being focused recently biology.
The concept includes those disciplines Omics sciences such as genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics. They all bring great advances in the basic understanding of biological topics. Also pose a tremendous development in the field of cellular analysis functionality and their biotechnological applications.
Omics sciences have in common that rely on analysis of a large volume of data, so that use of bioinformatics in data interpretation. Its integration generates knowledge that allows to study organisms that are now unknown and their functions, especially through his genetic trail.
